Close-up turnaround
Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix tv series. I have been working on this likeness lately in my spare time. I'm quite happy with how this likeness turned out, I learned a lot.
- The head is sculpted by hand from scratch, using XYZ textures for pores.
- The shirt is done in Marvelous Designer, with refinement sculpted in zbrush.
- Armor sculpted in zbrush. Texture done in Substance Painter.
- Body 65k tris. 3 textures 4k
- Head 52k (highest LOD) 2 texture: 4k for head, 1k for eyes. The head texture is done using XYZ texture as the starting base. Sculpt wraped into metahuman topology using Zwrap.
- Hair 40k tris. 1k texture. Hair cards are done in Maya using CS Curvetools and texture is done in Fibershop.
- Head using metahuman basemesh.
- Eyelashes, eyebrows, and beard done in Xgen.
It has been quite a journey, many thanks to all my fellow 3d mates who had given feedback, tips, and encouragement with this project.
